Job Description - STEAM Coach - 25/26 School Year

STEAM Coach - Phoenix Campus - 25/26 School Year



The STEAM Coach will collaborate with teachers to organize and implement STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) through the successful integration of strategies and multiple technologies to promote innovative, high-tech learning. As a STEAM coach, the candidate will co-teach in classes as assigned weekly/monthly. The candidate must also provide learning opportunities for students in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics as per Arizona Autism Charter School’s (AZACS) adopted STEAM curriculum. The STEAM coach should develop strategies, skills, tools, and techniques in order to effectively implement the teaching of science, technology, engineering, and math to students. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to train and be trained , coach and be coached as per the needed circumstances. The candidate should also be able to motivate the teachers/ instructional staff in the classroom. Candidates must be experienced with staff supervision, classroom teaching, STEAM initiatives, ABA teaching strategies, and have significant experience conducting these activities within school settings. 



Duties and responsibilities: 



  • Coaching in classrooms per schedule provided by the Director of STEAM and Innovation.

  • Will keep a track of the kits/ materials delivered and ensure they are properly inventoried after use.

  • Transferring/rotating the materials among staff members as per requirements

  • Observe and evaluate the STEAM staff 

  • Checks the weekly lesson plans and provide guidance to the teachers 

  • Co-teach the classes with the class teachers as per requirement

  • Ensure the STEAM lessons are aligned to state standards 



  • Actively engage in the development and implementation of the curricula for technology, engineering, and science programs

  • Actively participate in the professional development/ training for the school

  • Maintain current knowledge of developments in the STEAM model including science and technology

  • Collaborate with other subject teachers to support STEAM programs and initiative

  • Develop, write and modify course syllabi or curricula overview on an as-needed basis

  • Use a variety of technological applications and online resources

  • Ensure classroom teachers are implementing instructional strategies and lessons as set forth by STEAM coach verified by the Director of STEAM and Innovation

  • Participate in regular observations and in-the-moment coaching from Director of STEAM and CTE and implement action steps following coaching sessions 

  • Contribute to IEPs as appropriate 

  • Demonstrate the ability to create and implement strategies for weaving STEAM experiences into multi-disciplinary curricula from grades K-5

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of STEAM and Innovation


Minimum Qualifications: 



  • At least 3 years of experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities

  • Completion of 3 years of teaching in one of the following areas: Science, Technology, Engineering or Art 

  • Track record of success in behavior management with students with autism or other special needs 

  • Ability to approach situations with optimism and perseverance 

  • Ability to communicate with parents, co-workers and professional contacts in a courteous and professional manner and following AZACS guidelines 

  • Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Ability to exercise reasonable judgment and maintain confidentiality

  • Experience in structured teaching, center-based model preferred 


Required:



  • Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card

  • Experience and training in positive behavior strategies, experience in ABA preferred

  • Must have: Bachelor's degree OR previous teaching experience AND interested in obtaining a teaching certification OR be currently enrolled in a teacher certification program

Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • Set up lessons and instructional activities as and whenever needed for classroom teachers working with students with disabilities.


ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Positions in this class require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. 


Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. 



Working Conditions: Work is routinely performed in an indoor and outdoor classroom setting.
