Stepdown Registered Nurse – Travel Position

Shift: 3x12s Nights
Pay: $2,174.40/week

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Stepdown Registered Nurse to join on a travel contract in Bismarck, ND. This role is based in a 32-bed progressive care unit, where the nurse will provide care to patients requiring close monitoring and specialized interventions, often transitioning from intensive care to a lower acuity setting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and skilled in managing patients with complex medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care to patients requiring stepdown or progressive care monitoring.


• Assess, monitor, and document patient status, including cardiac monitoring and telemetry.


• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately.


• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions.


• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary staff to coordinate patient care.


• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.


• Float to other units as assigned to support hospital staffing needs.

Qualifications:

• Current and valid Registered Nurse license in North Dakota (or compact license).


• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing).


• Minimum of 2 years of recent stepdown, progressive care, or telemetry nursing experience.


• Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).


• COVID-19 vaccine and recent tuberculosis test.


• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.


• Ability to manage a diverse caseload in a 32-bed progressive care unit.
