Sterile Processing Technician

Position Summary:

The Sterile Processing Technician (or LVN) plays a vital role in patient safety and infection control by ensuring all surgical and medical instruments are properly decontaminated, inspected, assembled, packaged, sterilized, and distributed. Working under the supervision of the Surgical Services Manager, this position ensures compliance with all regulatory standards (AAMI, OSHA, AORN), hospital policies, and manufacturer guidelines. The technician supports surgical readiness, manages inventory, assists with equipment maintenance, and maintains accurate records. This position may also assist in tracking licensure and certification compliance for the department.

Requirements

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a sterile processing technician program preferred.
• LVN licensure with the State of Texas preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

• Certification by CBSPD or IAHCSMM preferred (or required within one year of hire).
• LVN license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
• Must maintain all required licensure and certification and assist with staff tracking.

Experience:

• One (1) year of experience in sterile processing, surgical services, or central supply preferred.
• Familiarity with AAMI, AORN, and OSHA standards.
