Description

Essential Functions

• The Working Environment; Demonstrates ability to follow safety standards according to established guidelines such as OSHA, ANSI and AAAMI and reports pertinent observations regarding accidents, and unsafe environmental conditions, such as malfunctioning equipment, bugs/pests. Adheres to policies of infection control program by following proper personal hygiene and hand washing procedures. Adheres to contaminated and isolation procedures.
• Uses standard precautions for infection control when handling contaminated instruments.
• Instrument Care; Accelerates turnover of cases by following progress of schedule and assisting to remove dirty instruments from rooms if needed. In the area of instruments, power tools, basin sets, trays, etc. Recognizes and is familiar with each. Inspects for defective parts or malfunction. Responsible for sending for repair and keeping record in Log Book. Cleans and lubricates according to special needs.
• Assembles into sets. Packages according to size and organization. Labels correctly. Sterilizes using proper method. Stores properly.
• Sterilization Methods and Standards; High Pressure Steam Sterilizer and sterilization for immediate use. Understands the procedure for operating. Loads items in accepted manner. Selects proper dial setting.
• Checks indicators for proper functioning. Keeps unit clean and polished. Reports malfunction to Director/Manager or designee immediately.

Requirements

Required Education and Experience: High School graduate or GED. Central Sterile Supply Technician Certification or Technician. One (1) year experience is required. CPR certification.
