Mission of Role 

The Sterile/Records Tech reports to the Practice Administrator and the Orthodontist. The Sterile/Records Tech will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our orthodontic practice. This position involves managing patient records, taking x-rays. 3-D images and clinical photographs, maintaining a sterile and organized clinical environment, running and managing the sterilization of instruments, preparing clinic chairs/areas before and after appointments, assisting with laboratory duties, and performing some minor orthodontic assisting tasks. You will be responsible for ensuring that all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and that all records are taken and uploaded by end of day. 

Key Responsibilities

• Seating patient and provide patient comfort
• Checking to make sure that all lab cases are here and logging them in Easy RX
• Effective knowledge and use of the iTero, scanning patients in a timely manner (under 7 minutes to scan)
• Take accurate impressions, X-rays, 3-D Scans and photographs of patients' teeth and oral structures
• Organize and maintain patient records accurately and confidentially
• Assist in updating and managing digital records systems
• Follow proper sterilization protocols to ensure the cleanliness and safety of all instruments and equipment
• Sterilize and maintain orthodontic instruments, equipment, and treatment areas following established infection control protocols
• Monitor and maintain sterilization equipment and log sterilization cycles
• Assist with basic laboratory tasks, including pouring models/trimming
• Manage 3D printing processes and lab work/spreadsheets
• Collaborate with the orthodontic team to ensure the timely completion and tracking of laboratory work
• Provide assistance to orthodontists and clinical staff as needed
• Prepare treatment chairs/areas, ensuring they are clean, organized, and properly stocked with supplies and equipment
• Learn and perform minor clinical tasks under supervision
• Maintain and update patient records, including treatment charts, progress notes, and relevant documentation
• Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in orthodontic techniques, and product knowledge to provide the highest standard of care
• Ensure that the lab area is clean, organized and adheres to OSHA compliance standards
• Making retainers and trimming appropriately 
• Some independent work with patients 
• Ordering list is updated for supplies needed and putting supplies away as well as stocking rooms
• Equipment maintenance and upkeep
