Position Description

As directed by the appropriate management representative or her / his designee, responsible for the shipping, receiving, storage and delivery of all merchandise, equipment and supplies at and to designated operating units. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Receives merchandise, equipment and supplies at any designated areas within established receiving practices.
  2. Sorts and arranges delivery of all receipts to the appropriate store.
  3. Utilizing established guidelines, assists in checking in, pricing, shelving and when necessary, the return of merchandise to ensure accuracy and efficiency. 
  4. Picks up and delivers mail.
  5. Prepare outgoing shipments on pallets or individual boxes.
  6. Responsible for coordination and expediting outgoing shipments. May include interactions with private delivery systems.
  7. Observes all NYS traffic laws both on campus and off campus.
  8. Responsible for friendly, helpful service to their internal customers.
  9. Responsible for customer satisfaction by being attentive to customer needs and establishing positive communication.
  10. Maintains professional appearance. Follows safe food handling practices.
  11. In the interest of employee’s personal safety and that of others, performs duties in a safe manner. Maintains safe and orderly working environment. 
  12. Responsible for cleaning and maintenance of stock rooms and affiliated areas.
  13. Advises management with regard to resupply needs.
  14. Maintains related records using automated or manual systems.
  15. Responsible for operation of a cash register within established procedures.
  16. Performs other similar or related tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Ability to lift 100 pounds.
  2. Must have and maintain a valid NYS license to operate the employer's trucks, vans and automobiles.
  3. Must be insurable on an unrated, non-pool basis in a company authorized to do insurance business in New York State.
  4. High School diploma or equivalent.
  5. Demonstrated proficiency using commonly applied spreadsheet and word processing software, including the ability to type at 30 words per minute.
  6. One year cashier experience and one year direct customer contact experience. 
  7. As directed by the appropriate management representative or her / his designee, responsible for the shipping, receiving, storage and delivery of all merchandise, equipment and supplies at and to designated operating units.
