Belfast Community Co-op, whose mission is to bring locally sourced, reasonably priced, organic and natural products to all, is looking for a Store Assistant to join our team!
Starting at $16.12, this is a Full Time position (30+ hours weekly). This is a seasonal summer position with the possibility of a permanent offer after Labor Day.
Store Assistants are cross-trained to provide dynamic support in clerk roles throughout the Co-op. Duties might include cashiering, stocking, facing, receiving, cleaning and sanitizing, food prep, shoveling snow, and packaging bulk products. Store Assistants have a global view of the store and can jump in where needed to support the team. Depending on store needs, you will be scheduled to work full or partial shifts in specific departments, or open shifts supporting various departments throughout the day. As part of the Store Assistant team, you'll be expected to reach proficiency in advanced processes as trained, communicate effectively, and perform miscellaneous tasks as directed.

Requirements
Basic math (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication) and customer service skills
Excellent command of spoken and written English to include effective communication
Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and establish and maintain cooperative working relations with peers, employees, vendors, and the public.
Demonstrated flexibility and excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to ensure compliance with applicable laws and Co-op guidelines, policies, mission, goals, and practices.
Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in handling confidential materials and matters.
Experience with computers, Point of Sale systems, and ECRS Catapult preferred
Familiarity with natural foods; basic understanding of retail concepts and the retail industry.
Preferred (but not required) Skills:
Knowledge of Cooperative Principles and Business module
Experience with ECRS Catapult
Ability to use POS and spreadsheet programs
Familiarity with natural foods and retail concepts
Experience with computers, such as email and word processing
Ability to work with diverse staff and customers in a fair and supportive manner
