Description

The Belfast Community Co-op is looking for an experienced receiver to coordinate and receive deliveries for our newly renovated store. The ideal candidate would be organized, skilled in driving a forklift, solution-oriented, and an effective communicator. With all new equipment and an upgraded, efficient facility, we are looking for someone that will partner with our operations departments to reach our goal of providing an exceptional internal and external customer experience while keeping worker safety as our number one priority. 

Starting at $19.00 hourly, this is a Full Time position.

The Store Receiver is responsible for receiving, checking in, and distributing storewide deliveries, coordinating the forklift schedule, and is one of the primary forklift operators.  The Store Receiver works with department managers and buyers to ensure receipt of quality product and coordinates returns and donations. The Store Receiver’s shift may include organizing expected deliveries, maintaining the receiving areas, coordinating with vendors, general maintenance, and janitorial tasks. Under the direction of the Grocery Manager, the Store Receiver trains staff in store receiving procedures and other facilities tasks. The Store Receiver models excellent internal and external customer service and serves as a leader in the store.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Plans and coordinates all store deliveries
  • Operates forklift for receiving and other store needs
  • Acts as a part of the Grocery team to keep the store safe, clean, and well maintained

Essential Functions of all Positions:

  • Provides exceptional customer service to internal & external customers, both in person & via phone: 
  • Responds promptly and honestly to customer inquiries 
  • Greets customers with a smile and friendly demeanor 
  • Communicates respectfully 
  • Wears any required uniform (nametag, apron, chef coat, etc.) so as to be easily identifiable to customers and able to work safely (hair covering, closed toed shoes, etc.) 
  • Asks for help from co-workers and provides help to customers and co-workers as needed. 
  • Works efficiently and safely
  • Takes initiative and works as a part of a team
  • Approaches work with a positive attitude
  • Collaborates with others to find solutions and accepts solutions once determined
  • Continues to learn and develop knowledge as it relates to the position, co-op, and industry
  • Demonstrates regular and dependable attendance 
  • Follows department procedures and SOPs

Requirements

Minimum:

  • Experience in operating a forklift
  • Strong computer skills, with the ability to learn new programs quickly
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks
  • Customer service experience in a leadership role  
  • Experience organizing complex projects 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem-solving skills, including assessing complex situations, determining action steps, and communicating evolving plans to a varied audience

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of the Cooperative Principles and Cooperative Business module.
  • Experience with POS and spreadsheet programs sufficient to communicate and prepare reports with accuracy, and in a timely manner.
  • Experience with Google Suite, including Docs, Gmail, and Sheets
  • Familiarity with natural foods; basic understanding of retail concepts and of retail industry.
  • Ability to interpret budgets and margin requirements.
  • Experience working with computers, such as email and word processing.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. This position requires frequent interaction with the public, in person and over the telephone.
