Structural Designer - Civil

OVERVIEW:

Our client is looking to hire a Structural Design/Civil Engineer. This person will be a Licensed Professional Engineer (LPE) in the state of Texas. They will also work independently and as part of a larger team in order to work toward common goals in serving clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervise Junior Engineers, EITs, and CAD technicians
• Provide detailed design and calculations in support of signed and sealed plan sheets
• Provide preliminary layouts, specifications, quantities and final plan sheets
• Train and mentor less experienced engineers
• Coordinate and work closely with all project disciplines
• Manage project design schedules, budgets, and scope
• Responsible for project quality control
• Coordinate with the client and is responsible for meeting client schedules and budgets

This position may include providing engineering services for the following primary areas of design:

• Traffic signals
• Illumination
• ITS

Secondary areas:

• Signing
• Pavement Markings
• Intersection Improvements
• Traffic operational analysis studies

MUST HAVE:

• Bachelors degree in civil engineering from an accredited university
• 5+ years of experience of designing transportation projects in the Civil Engineering field
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas, or ability to obtain within 6 months
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in MicroStation/Open Roads and Geopak
• A strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Able to lead and manage junior staff

NICE TO HAVE:

• Proficiency in Open Roads Designer (ORD)
• Precertification in TxDOT work categories
