Structural Welder

Must have or be able to obtain their AWS Certified Welder and D1.1 Structural Steel Endorsement certifications within 90-days.

Pay Rate Range: $28.09 - $29.29 based on experience and skill level.

1st Shift: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM

Summary: Plan, direct and perform diversified duties required to lay out, build weld, and assemble all types of conveyer units, filtration units, component parts, and sub-assemblies manufactured by the company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED:

• Work from bills of material, blueprints, sketches and verbal and written instructions.
• Check bills of material and interpret complex detail and assembly drawings to lay out and devise method and sequence of fabrication and assembly operations.
• Move, position and remove components from work areas.
• Fabricate and fit all types of parts by burning, hand cutting and grinding.
• Set up machines and perform all phases and types of welding on conveyer parts.
• Build and assemble all parts of conveyer systems by bolting, cotter pinning or welding parts together.
• Install coolant piping, tanks and hydraulic lines.
• Direct, instruct and inspect work of Builder and Assemblers II, welders and assemblers for quality and conformance to specifications.
• Make occasional visits to customer plants to correct conveyer system breakdowns.
• Use floor controlled overhead crane equipment as necessary to move parts and materials; use care to lift and balance loads properly; operate equipment in a safe manner.
• Exercise proper care in the use of tools, equipment and materials.
• Detect and report faulty equipment, defective material, improper operations and unusual conditions to supervision.
• Maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition.

QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE: Use decimals, fractions and other ordinary shop arithmetic. Requires interpretation to adhere to requirements. Requires AWS D1.1 vertical-up certification. Must have or be able to obtain AWS Certified Welder and AWS Structural Steel Endorsement.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
