Structured Cabling Technician
Description:
We are seeking a Structured Cabling Technician that is willing to learn and possess the skills required to function as a contributing member of a technical team. Typically, this position requires between one (1) year to 3 years of experience in the structured cabling industry.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install copper and fiber optic cables including overhead cable supports (j-hooks, cable tray, ladder rack, etc.) and installation of sleeves and firestop as required.
- Route and bundle (dressing) cables through modular furniture, cable trays, ladder rack, etc.
- Drop or “fish” walls with box eliminators and install surface mount raceway.
- Install work area outlets including wall plates, modular furniture, floor boxes, etc.
- Organize cables and determine/install service loop and cable labeling.
- Assist with buildout of IT closets including mounting backboards, ladder rack, equipment racks/cabinets, patch panels, fiber optic enclosures, etc.
- Install low-voltage devices such as wireless AP’s, speakers, display mounting brackets, etc.
Teamwork:
- Work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Adhere to all company, customer and industry regulations, quality and safety standards.
- Perform additional responsibilities and projects as assigned.
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to understand and explain the importance of safety and professionalism to ESC and its customers.
- Have a basic understanding of copper cable testing; continuity, wire-map, splits, opens, etc.
- Solid knowledge of ESC and industry label standards.
- Ability to understand and complete all personal EndSolution documentation including all digital processes such as Clock Shark, ADP (payroll), PTO requests and expense/reimbursement reports.
- Must be able to work at various heights on a ladder, work in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
- Must be able to adapt to changing situations required by business needs.
- Must be able to follow instructions and implement project processes.
- Must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners.
- Knowledgeable in the use of required tools.
- Must be able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.

Education, Certification, License:
- (Minimum)High School diploma or GED equivalency.
- Minimum of zero (0) to three (3) year(s) experience in telecommunications or related technical field.
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Basic construction industry knowledge preferred
- Must meet Company minimum driving standards
