Charles R. Drew University is located in the Watts-Willowbrook area of south Los Angeles and was founded in 1966 in the wake of the Watts uprising. CDU was founded to address inadequate medical care in the region and to provide equitable medical education opportunities for under-represented students.

CDU offers the only historically black Doctor of Medicine program west of the Mississippi, and is strongly invested in the local and regional community. The university leads multiple partnerships and programs to provide equitable healthcare resources in a variety of south Los Angeles neighborhoods.


 


Plans and coordinate student activities for the College of Nursing (CON). Coordinates budgeting, and student outreach efforts. Develops an event calendar and implements programs that align with the university’s vision, mission, and goals. Creates program materials, establishes staffing requirements, and ensures that the program achieves stated objectives. Measures the performance of programs and adjusts to optimize results. Utilizes client relationship management (CRM) or another system to organize information and facilitate outreach communications. Works with partners on special events that publicize CON and its programs to the community.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Office of CON Student

  • Identify and assess student needs to achieve

  • Build sustainable relationships and trust with students through open and interactive

  • Maintain appointment calendar(s). Schedule meetings and arrange facilities, equipment and related

  • Provides support services such as typing, distribution and report preparation for special projects generated by the

  • Provide accurate, valid, and complete information by using the right methods/tools.

  • Handles student complaints, provides appropriate solutions and alternatives within the time limits, follow up to ensure resolution.

  • Follow communication procedures, guidelines, and

  • Organize meetings including sending emails and reminders, distributing materials, arranging for refreshments, assign name tags and records and/or transcribe minutes.

  • Develops correspondence, memoranda, special reports, and related material for CON Student

  • Maintain student record confidentially to ensure students’

  • Maintain program files and

  • Maintains office equipment and

  • Participates in activities including orientations, white coat ceremonies, Graduation events, for the ELM, FNP, DNP and BSN programs.

  • Collaborate with the Student Success and Wellness Director to streamline the admissions process for CON Student Affairs

  • Coordinate the logistics and arrange interviews for CON programs’

  • Provide CON applicants with their application

  • Assign and schedule work activities for student

  • Some weekends may be

  • May be required to drive personal vehicle to pick up supplies for events.

Qualifications/Requirements:


 EDUCATION:



  • Regionally accredited bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and


EXPERIENCE:


  • Two to three years’ related experience with student services and activities are


 


LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:


  • CA driver’s license and proof of


KNOWLEDGE/ABILITY/SKILLS:


  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate, implement, and schedule various

  • Proven customer support experience or experience as a student affairs

  • Familiar with CRM systems and

  • Customer orientation and ability to adapt/respond to different types of

  • Excellent communication skills and organizational

  • Ability to build rapport with

  • Strong listening

  • Take the extra mile to engage

  • Excellent writing skills (e.g., technical reports, )

  • Excellent grammatical

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) and Canva.

  • The ability to perform highly detailed work with sustained attention and care while providing/obtaining information on numerous inquiries is paramount to success in this position.

Full Time 


Salary range:  $58,300-$72,000
