POSITION TITLE: Student Success Liaison

HOURS OF WORK: 8 Hours Per Day/197 Calendar Days Per Year

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Indian Trail Middle School

STATUS: Certified - Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for engaging with students, families, and staff to support the academic, social-emotional, and future readiness needs of students. The Student Success Liaison will collaborate with district and local community resources that support the comprehensive wellness of students and families. This position is part of Indian Trail Middle and reports to the Indian Trail Middle School Principal.

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist with student concerns regarding academic, emotional or social difficulties.
• Develop and progress monitor student success plans.
• Collaborate and consult with parents, teachers, other educators and community resources on behalf of students.
• Facilitate prevention programs.
• Provide planned, short-term and goal-focused individual counseling.
• Provide support and assistance to students and families in crisis and emergency situations.
• Refer students to community-based mental health resources as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Master's degree in counseling.
• Kansas Board of Education School Specialist License.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Spanish speaking preferred; not required
• Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
• High degree of motivation, responsibility and confidentiality
• Demonstrated ability in compiling, organizing, and analyzing data
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced work environment
• Highly collaborative team player
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.)
• Ability to self-initiate areas of opportunity, make recommendations for improvement, and follow up as necessary to achieve desired results

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires the performance of sedentary work- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. This position requires frequent fingering, hearing, and talking. This position requires occasional repetitive motion and walking.
The job is performed in generally hazard free environment and a clean atmosphere.
