The Potters’ Studio is seeking a skilled and community-minded Level 3 Studio Technician to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with strong ceramics experience, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to train others in studio operations and kiln use.
As a Level 3 Studio Technician, you’ll ensure the studio is clean, safe, and ready for creative work. You’ll support all who use the studio — members, students, visiting artists, and guests — by providing knowledgeable assistance on materials, equipment, firing, and protocols. You’ll also take on specialized duties including:
- Loading electric kilns independently and training members in their use.
- Operating the filter press without supervision.
- Loading and unloading gas kilns.
- Fire gas kilns under supervision.
- Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on electric and gas kilns; coordinate with outside technicians for major repairs.
- Maintaining kiln shelves and performing maintenance tasks (grinding, chiseling, kiln washing).
- Keeping kiln yard tidy and organized.

- Proven ceramics experience, including electric kiln and gas kiln operations.
- Ability to train members on safe electric kiln operation.
- Knowledge of filter press operation and kiln shelf maintenance.
- One or more years in a customer service role, with a friendly, patient, and inclusive approach.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
