Position Summary:
The Study Hall Monitor plays a vital role in maintaining a structured, quiet, and academically focused environment during non-instructional periods. This position supports student accountability, enforces behavioral expectations, and ensures a safe and respectful atmosphere aligned with The Vanguard School’s commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise students during assigned study hall periods.
Maintain accurate attendance records and monitor student behavior.
Ensure a quiet, distraction-free environment conducive to academic work.
Provide guidance and support to students needing help with organization or study skills.
Enforce school policies and refer disciplinary issues to appropriate staff.
Assist with transitions between classes, lunch, and dismissal as needed.
Share in school-wide duties such as lunchroom, hallway, or other supervision.
Maintain confidentiality in all matters related to students.
Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
Monitors and tracks make-up work for core classes.
Communicates with teaching staff about student progress on make-up work.
Qualifications:
Experience working with school-aged children or in a classroom setting preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in a dynamic school environment.
Commitment to The Vanguard School’s professional dress code and values.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs occasionally.
Frequent standing, walking, and light physical activity.
Occasional bending, squatting, and reaching.
Work primarily indoors with occasional outdoor supervision.
