Job Description - Substance Use Disorder Professional

Key Recovery provides comprehensive substance use disorder treatment and work skills training to help low-income, high-risk patients achieve sustained recovery and rebuild their lives. The Substance Use Disorder Professional shall provide clinical treatment services for Key Recovery and Life Skills Center patients. The SUDP shall be an employee hired by the SUD Clinical Supervisor to carry out such duties as may be assigned.? The Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee shall meet the requirements of WAC 246-811-030 through 060, WAC 246-341-0420 (3).  

Primary Responsibilities:? 

  • Delivering all program services related directly to patient treatment and care as assigned by and under the supervision of the SUD Clinical Supervisor. 
  • Provide treatment services to each patient that is appropriate for their individual care and meets ASAM, SAMHSA, WAC/RCW and CARF requirements. 
  • Facilitate clinical treatment groups throughout the week with assigned curriculum.  
  • Provide of one individual session with assigned patients per month and complete ISP reviews.  
  • Supervising patients outside of structured clinical activities. 
  • Maintaining and assuring that patient records assigned are current, accurate, and in compliance with the Treatment Staff Manual. 
  • Conducting interviews and representing patients at court proceedings if so, designated by supervisor.? 
  • Working cooperatively and professionally with patients and coworkers. 
  • Attending weekly staff meetings, workshops, training sessions as designated by supervisor. 
  • Answering and directing calls professionally and accurately. 
  • Demonstrating highest level of integrity and maintain exceptional levels of confidentiality as outlined in the HIPPA, 42 CFR, Part 2 and 45 CFR federal regulations. 
  • Maintaining professional boundaries and set a positive example of behaviors for patients. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.? The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.?? 

Education/Experience:  

  • Must have an Associate Degree (A. A.) in human services or related field.  
  • Prefer Bachelors Degree in Human Services or related field. 
  • Must have current documentation as a Substance Use Disorder Professional as defined by WAC 246-811-030 through 060.  
  • 3,000 hours in addition to the supervised hours required to become a SUDP (Substance Use Disorder Professional) or have completed the required training according to WAC 246-811-049 (3) or (4).  

Certificates and Licenses:? 

  • Must have current documentation as a Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee as defined by WAC 246-811-030 through 060 and maintain credential throughout employment. 
  • Maintain current CPR/Red Cross certification.? 
  • Must be able to attain an individual NPI number. 
  • Must be able to pass annual criminal history and exclusion checks.? 
  • Must provide a TB test or screening annually. 

Training and Clinical Skills: 

  • Understanding addiction placement, continuing care, and discharge criteria, including American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria.  
  • Understanding of cultural diversity including people with disabilities and its implication for SUD treatment.  
  • Ability to use a wide range of Trauma Informed and Evidenced-Based clinical approaches to work with patients who are experiencing a multitude of behavioral health issues 
  • Great group facilitation skills  
  • Good documentation skills including screening, intake, assessment, treatment plan, clinical reports, clinical progress notes, discharge summaries, and other client related data.  
  • Highly ethical and professional; ability to keep information confidential, and ability to follow rules and regulations.  
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. 

Background: 

  • No history of misuse of alcohol or other drugs for a minimum of one year prior to employment with Key Recovery Center.? Employer is a drug-free workplace, and employees will agree to random and for-cause drug testing policies. 
  • Offer of employment is conditional upon DSHS or FBI Criminal Background Check and ability to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test and agreement to agency’s drug free workplace policies, including compliance with random and/or for cause drug testing. 

Computer Skills:  Ability to operate basic office equipment such as telephones, computers, fax, and copy machines. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Teams, Excel, Outlook, and GoogleDocs is required. Ability to learn DrCloud or other EHR.? 

Language Skills:  Ability to comprehend complex instructions, detailed correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to read and interpret documents such as assessments. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence including authorization requests and court reports. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to contracting agencies, clients, and other employees of the organization.? 

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of behavioral issues and solve problems while dealing with several abstract and concrete variables.?

The work is typically performed in an office environment, with a moderate noise level. To perform the job, the employee is frequently required to talk and hear on the telephone and in person with individuals and groups. The employee is required to read and respond to documents in hard copy and electronic form.?
