Substitute Direct Support Personnel

CCAR Industries is searching for a substitute direct support person (DSP) to work at our day program locations. As a substitute DSP, the employee would work on an as needed basis to provide coverage in the absence of routine day program staff.  DSPs support individuals with developmental disabilities as they engage in organized activities and enjoy leisure time. The DSP may transport individuals in an agency-owned van in the community. 

SCHEDULE

This is an as needed, daytime position on Monday - Friday, excluding major holidays. Typical work hours occur between 7:30 am - 4 pm.

*As possible, the Program Director would attempt to schedule work days in advance to provide coverage in the event of pre-planned staff absences.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must have a valid driver's license


• Must be 18 years old


• Must pass a criminal background check, as required by the Healthcare Worker Background Check Act (225 ILCS 46), and a Child Abuse and Neglect Tracking System background check.


• Experience working with individuals with disabilities in a direct support role is preferred, but related caregiving experience will be considered. 


• Must be able to work independently or as a team
  


• Demonstrate timeliness and accuracy in documentation 

WAGES

This position starts at $16.75/hour with a $0.50 increase when paid training is complete.
