SUE Lead Technician

GFY is seeking a SUE Lead Technician to join our Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) team. This position will primarily plan, organize, and direct the work of a SUE crew to determine precise location for a variety of utilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Uses ground-penetrating radar (GPR), handheld electromagnetic (EM) locators and other specialized devices including vacuum-excavation equipment to locate underground utilities (communications, electric, water, sewer, gas, etc.)


• Drives, operates, and maintains vacuum-excavation vehicles


• Regularly uses a variety of hand and power tools including but not limited to wrenches, drivers, drills, pneumatic hammers, etc.


• Assists with Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) daily setups


• Stocks vacuum excavation trucks and support vehicles with appropriate equipment, supplies, tools, paint, flags, signs, asphalt, concrete, etc. daily


• Participates in maintaining a safe work environment for all crew members

• Must be able to make informed decisions in the field.
• Responsible for job-specific quality system tasks as defined in the quality manual.
• Responsible to care for and maintain all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) issued by the company.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent


• Valid driver’s license with a clean Motor Vehicle Report


• Good verbal and written communications skills and ability to think critically


• Ability to travel out of town as needed


• Ability to work outdoors, sometimes in adverse weather conditions, and overnight as needed


• Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis


• 3-5 years of SUE experience
