Plumbing Outside Sales Representative

Build customer relationships and grow your career with Connor Co. We are seeking an experienced Plumbing Outside Sales Representative to join our Sugar Grove team.

This position is ideal for a self-motivated sales professional with strong plumbing industry knowledge who enjoys developing new business, supporting existing customers, and helping customers find the right products for their projects.

Principal Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers while identifying new business opportunities within the sales territory.


• Meet with current and prospective customers to understand their needs, demonstrate products, explain features, and generate sales.


• Recommend plumbing products and solutions based on customer requirements and project specifications.


• Answer questions about product applications, pricing, availability, warranties, and delivery timelines.


• Prepare accurate quotes, estimates, and bids, and follow up promptly to secure business.


• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project specifications to assist with product selection and estimates.


• Communicate pricing, payment terms, and other sales conditions in accordance with company policies.


• Coordinate with branch, warehouse, and delivery teams to support accurate order fulfillment and timely deliveries.


• Provide ongoing customer support, resolve concerns, and coordinate solutions with the appropriate team members.


• Develop sales leads through referrals, industry relationships, trade organizations, and events.


• Stay informed about market conditions, new products, and competitor offerings.


• Partner with the credit department and Branch Manager to address past-due customer accounts.


• Maintain accurate customer information, sales activity records, and follow-up schedules.


• Attend product training, industry trade shows, and other relevant events.


• Provide sales updates and reports to the Branch Manager and perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.


• At least five years of outside sales experience.


• At least five years of plumbing industry experience.


• Strong knowledge of plumbing products and their applications.


• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.


• Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation for business travel.


• Willingness to travel to customer locations, training sessions, and industry events as needed.

• Strong attention to detail when preparing quotes, processing information, and following up with customers.


• Ability to organize sales activities, prioritize competing demands, and meet deadlines.


• Professional and positive approach when working with customers, coworkers, and management.


• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn Eclipse software.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a $65,000 annual base salary, plus commissions and bonus opportunities.
