Summer Camp Counselor - Oakland Avenue Charter School

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent service to all students, families, co-workers, and school administration.


• Meet the physical, emotional, and educational needs of the children in their care.


• Work in a team environment; build and maintain healthy, cooperative relationships.


• Communicate positively and effectively with the Site Director.


• Adhere to all policies and procedures both organizationally and departmentally to ensure the safety of children, parents, and staff.


• Model positive behavior and educate children in a manner which contributes to mature and responsible behavior.


• Complete all Discover After School and governmentally required training in the required time frame.


• Implement the curriculum and schedule provided on a daily basis and provide feedback to such on a weekly basis.

Qualifications:

• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma.


• Satisfactory Criminal Background Screening & Drug Screenings


• First Aid, CPR, and AED certification (Employees are responsible for all cost incurred)
  


• Completion of 45 Hours of DCF Child Care Training (Preferred)

Skills:

• Eagerness to learn.


• Strong verbal, listening, and written communication skills in English is required.


• Bilingual, with proficiency in both English and Spanish is a plus. 


• Highly motivated, enthusiastic, patient, responsible, and dedicated to enhancing program performance and impact.


• Strong communication skills for interactions with children and administration.


• Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities for daily challenges.

• Attend all meetings pertinent to this position.


• Oversee and participate in the cleaning and maintaining of facilities, equipment, and all areas used.

• Report to all scheduled shifts on time.


• Uphold safety procedures for children, parents, and staff.


• Follow scheduled activities.


• Familiarity with and adherence to policies and procedures.


• Flexibility to perform additional tasks as required.


• Promptly communicate any concerns to the Site Director.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 per hour

Dates: June 2nd - August 1st

• Paid summer camp training will be provided before start of camp. More details will be available soon.

Schedule:

• Monday - Friday
  


• Morning Shift : 7:00AM - 12:45PM


• Afternoon Shift: 12:15PM - 6:00PM


• Hourly availability may vary based on fluctuations in enrollment and active student numbers. 


• **This position is seasonal but permanent opportunities are available.**
  

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• Experience with Children: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• First Aid Certification (Preferred)


• CPR Certification (Preferred)
