About the Role

As the Human Resources & Volunteer Services Assistant, you’ll support the day-to-day operations of Human Resources and Volunteer Services while gaining hands-on experience in onboarding, employee and volunteer support, recordkeeping, and organizational projects. You’ll work with staff and leadership across True Friends in a dynamic environment where priorities can change throughout the year.

The HR & VS Assistant may work at all three locations as needed

 

You don't have to live near a True Friends site to apply! Our camp staff positions offer on-site housing and meals during employment, making this a great opportunity for individuals who live outside the immediate area, including those from other states!

 

What You’ll Do

Your responsibilities may include:


  • Facilitate onboarding and assist with completion of new hire paperwork, including verifying required supporting documentation

  • Collaborate with leadership to report and manage work-related injuries

  • Provide organizational information and guidance during staff and volunteer orientations

  • Provide ongoing support to staff and volunteers throughout the summer

  • Maintain accurate and confidential staff and volunteer records within organizational databases

  • Coordinate evaluation processes and collect employment feedback

  • Partner with departments and leadership to support organizational initiatives and goals

  • Create, distribute, collect, and analyze survey data

  • Prepare reports and present findings to support organizational decision-making

  • Engage as an active member of the camp and volunteer communities

  • Support special projects, assignments, and other departmental initiatives

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Schedule


  • Seasonal position with a schedule based on organizational and program needs

  • Typical business hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with some flexibility based on role and program needs

  • May occasionally require evening or weekend hours to support orientations, camp programs, or organizational needs

  • Specific schedule and time commitments will be discussed during the hiring process


What You’ll Bring to the Table


  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Interest in gaining experience in Human Resources, Administration, Volunteer Coordination, or a related field

  • Strong willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment

  • Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately

  • Previous administrative experience and general computer skills preferred


Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This position primarily operates in an office environment but may interact with staff, volunteers, and participants throughout True Friends programs. Staff should be prepared to:


  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • Sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday

  • Use hands and fingers to operate computers, phones, copiers, scanners, and other office equipment

  • Work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities

  • Occasionally work outside of a traditional office setting to support camp and volunteer activities


Specific physical demands and environmental conditions may vary based on program and assignment.

 

Compensation


  • Human Resources & Volunteer Services Assistants are paid an hourly wage: $15.57

  • Returning staff may be eligible for higher wages and bonuses!
