POSITION DESCRIPTION  

The mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Garfield is to inspire and enable all  young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential  as productive, responsible and caring citizens. 

Full Job Description  

The Boys & Girls Club of Garfield is seeking a professional, motivated and nurturing  Camp Counselor to help with general supervision and childcare, day-to-day  maintenance, and cleaning tasks during our After school Program.  The candidate’s  primary responsibility is to ensure that club members' safety and support the effective  function of programming throughout the school year. 

Responsibilities  

• Participate in all staff training and meetings.

• Guide individual campers and groups in participating in all camp activities  • Supervise all aspects of the campers’ day including outside play and pool times • Assist teaching or leading activities as assigned 

• Set a good example for campers and others including cleanliness, punctuality,  sharing clean-up and sportsmanship  

• Organizes and leads various small and large group activities 

• Disinfect commonly used items like bathrooms, desks, door handles, office tools and  phones. 

• Empty trash and recycling bins 

• Ability to work collaboratively with (Volunteers) • Other duties may be assigned as required.

• Desire and ability to work with children outdoors

Requirements  

• Available to work entire school year with little to no interruption• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and be able to work up to eight hours a day in an active  youth focused environment that may require some physical exertion. • Education and experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with  children, or in a related field 

• First AID, AED, BLS/CPR certification preferred 

COVID-19 Considerations  

All staff members are required to be vaccinated per state requirement. Masks are  strongly encouraged but not mandatory.
