Summer Program Assistant, Family Programs

Start Date: June 24, 2024

How You Will Contribute
Program Assistants support a range of educational programming for all ages, including drop in artmaking, performance, and talk based programming.  Responsibilities include assisting with all aspects of public programs including set up, greeting participants, facilitating studio projects and gallery activities, and other responsibilities as designated. This position requires routine weekend shifts per the program schedules, as well as availability for two summer Family Festivals: July 7 and August 4. 

Specifically, you will:
  • Support a suite of programming offers for all ages including drop in artmaking, performance, talk-based gallery programs, seasonal offers, and other public programs as needs arise
  • Set up program environments
  • Prepare materials and supplies
  • Welcome visitors to public programs and encourage participation
  • Introduce and facilitate activities as instructed by staff
  • Maintain programming space—keep it tidy, organized, and follow the systems and procedures 
Your background and experience include:
  • Familiarity with art making materials and/or interest in art history and museums
  • Experience working with children (in formal and informal settings) and the general public
  • Excellent customer service skills, we welcome a background in retail, hospitality, and dining 
  • Ability to work in a team environment
 
Position and Compensation Details
  • The hourly rate for this position is $16.75
  • This position is part-time, non-exempt, and 10 - 15 hours per week.
  • This position requires routine weekend shifts per the program schedules.
  • This position reports to the Manager of Family Programs and the Manager of Adult Programs
  • This position is temporary, beginning on June 24, 2024 and ending on August 25, 2024
  • All staff orientation in June (date TBD)
  • Physical requirements:
o   Able to remain stationary for extended periods of time, to utilize computers and other office equipment required of this job, to perform physically administrative duties in a typical interior office environment, gallery, or exhibit space, and to access most public and staff areas of the museum campus
  • COVID-19 vaccination required.
  • PA Child Abuse Clearance and FBI Fingerprinting required.
