REQUIREMENTS:                     Must pass Oregon Department of Education (ODE)/Portland Public Schools (PPS) background check. 

                                                    Must possess a valid driver’s license and verification of current auto insurance and have full use 

                                                    of an automobile during work hours and ability to be trained to drive a 15-passenger van.

Program Summary
Schools Uniting Neighborhoods (SUN) Community Schools are a school-based service delivery model that provides a comprehensive set of services to the school communities we serve. IRCO’s Schools Uniting Neighborhoods Community Schools offer a variety of programs that support students’ education and family stability. Schools Uniting Neighborhoods Support Staff work with the Schools Uniting Neighborhoods Site Manager to facilitate and run extended day programs after school, including youth academic and enrichment classes, parent workshops, school events, food security programs, food pantries, and more. Programs are in-person, located at school sites around outer N/NE/SE Portland.  

Position Summary
SUN Community Schools is a Multnomah County initiative that aligns community partners and resources to help reduce barriers that keep students from being successful in school and in life.  Within each SUN Community School, the collective efforts of the school community, youth, parents, local businesses, faith communities, libraries, school districts and community organizations create a network to offer programs and activities to uplift students’ academic engagement & social-emotional development, meaningful family engagement, and resource navigation to access available community resources. 

The SUN Lunch Delivery Driver will pick up lunches from McDaniel High School and deliver them in a timely manner to five other IRCO SUN sites in NE and SE Portland.  

Essential Functions

These essential job functions are fundamental to the performance of the job.  Individuals are qualified to do the job only if they can perform all the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. These essential job functions include many, but are not all the necessary tasks the employee may be asked to perform:   

  • Safely and comfortably operate a 15-passenger van on city streets and highways
  • Ability to lift 50-75 lbs.
  • Ability to push or pull a cart of up to 100lbs.
  • Ability to push or pull a cart across uneven ground, parking lots and up/down ramps safely
  • Effectively community through text, phone, and email
  • Familiarity with NE Sandy Blvd from NE 57th to NE 82nd; and NE 82nd Ave – 92nd Ave Neighborhoods
  • Ability to follow a delivery schedule and route as set by a supervisor
  • Ensure confidentiality of student information.  Effectively record all data and maintain records in accordance with funder’s guidelines.  
  • Ability to pump gas and report any vehicle repairs or maintenance needed in a timely manner.

MINIMUM JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School or GED
  • Less than one year’s experience

  • Schedule: The work schedule is mostly stable and does not fluctuate without prior  notice. 

Supervisory Responsibilities

Positions at this level are not responsible for any supervisory functions, or responsibilities, but may occasionally be asked to orient and/or train new employees or volunteers.
