Job Description - Superintendent

Superintendent – Custom & Semi-Custom New Home Construction

Location: Port St. Lucie to West Palm Beach, FL (local candidates only)

Base Salary: $100,000–$125,000 + guaranteed first-year bonus + vehicle allowance

About the Opportunity

Over the past year and a half, this Florida east coast custom homebuilder has grown from 2 homes to 10, and next year is forecast at 20. The backlog is already there. What the company needs now is superintendents who can build it.

The business is part of a multi-state development group with a financially strong foundation, and it has been building on Florida's east coast for eight years. Every home is custom or semi-custom, and every project is new construction, with build budgets of roughly $2M–$3M in Wellington and $2.5M–$4M in West Palm Beach. Homes typically take 12–14 months from start to finish.

If you're a production superintendent who knows how to push a job, this one is worth a closer look. The company is genuinely open to strong production superintendents, and its current superintendent team includes people who came from production builders, among them a recent hire who made the move to get out of the developer cycle.

The Role

This is a field leadership role for someone whose greatest strength is knowing how to build a house. Superintendents here don't get one home each. You'll run multiple homes at the same time and be responsible for keeping every one of them moving: pushing the schedule, pushing the trades, and making sure the details are watched and monitored every day.

What You'll Get to Accomplish

  • Drive multiple custom and semi-custom homes from start to finish, on schedule, on budget, and to the company's quality standards.
  • Set the pace in the field by walking your homes daily, checking progress and the quality of trade work, and holding trade partners accountable.
  • Build the project schedule for each home. Scheduling is a team effort here: the superintendent creates it, the PM keeps it updated, and everyone works from it.
  • Protect the budget from the field by approving vendor payables and making sure only true extras get paid, back-charging when appropriate.
  • Serve as the on-site point of contact for homeowners, trade partners, and municipal inspectors.
  • Finish every home properly: complete all punch items before closing, lead homeowner orientations, and support warranty requests.
  • Run clean, safe jobsites that meet OSHA standards and stormwater pollution control requirements.

What You'll Bring

  • Superintendent experience in new home construction, whether in production, semi-custom, custom, or ultra-luxury homebuilding.
  • A proven ability to push a job and keep trade partners performing.
  • Deep, practical knowledge of how homes are built. You'll work in BuilderTrend and Microsoft Teams daily, but construction knowledge comes first.
  • The organization to run multiple homes at once.
  • A stable work history, with clear reasons behind each career move.
  • Residence in the local market, between Port St. Lucie and West Palm Beach.

Remodel-only backgrounds are not a fit for this role.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

A real path from production into custom. Superintendents from $1M–$3M production homes are a strong fit here. If your eye for custom-level detail is still developing, the team, including the Project Managers you'll work alongside, will coach you on exactly what they're looking for.

Trade partners get paid. The company does not operate on pay-when-paid terms; subs are paid regardless. Anyone who has tried to push trades who are waiting on a check knows why that matters.

You'll see the work before you decide. After an initial 20–30 minute call, candidates who move forward walk active jobsites with the hiring manager, from homes coming out of the ground to framing, floors and tile, and homes being finished. It's a direct look at what the company builds and how it builds it.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $100,000–$125,000 base salary, paid bi-weekly
  • Guaranteed first-year bonus, subject to completing your first year
  • Flat vehicle allowance of approximately $570 per month
  • Insurance for employees and their dependents
  • Company phone or phone stipend

Offers are contingent on a background check.

Candidates must have new home construction superintendent experience and live between Port St. Lucie and West Palm Beach to be considered.
