Job Summary:      

NYCTA is seeking a dynamic person to fill the role of Superintendent within the department of Facilities. The selected candidate will have extensive experience in all construction trades like masonry, carpentry, plumbing, roofing, painting, HVAC, etc. The selected candidate will have extensive experience in construction scheduling, construction budgets, procurement of materials, labor contracts.  The selected candidate will also have extensive experience in reading and interpreting Construction Blueprint drawings and documents. 

Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will be accountable and responsible for planning, organizing, directing and managing all personnel and activities related to maintenance, construction and operations of NYCT Facilities.  The responsibilities will include but are not limited to overseeing subordinates and performing duties that may include developing cost estimates, coordinating general orders, providing necessary inspections, maintenance, repair and/or construction activities to ensure safe and reliable facility operation.  The selected candidate will also assume the duties and responsibilities of the General Superintendent during his/her absence.  

Education and Experience:      

High School diploma with at least (5) Five years of relevant experience, including (3) years in a managerial, supervisory or project management role.

Desired Skills:      

• Strong Knowledge of MTA NYCT rules and regulations
• Strong experience with Construction Budgets, Capital Money, Estimating, Construction Scheduling
• Knowledge of construction trade, project management and maintenance management techniques
• Excellent Verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in EAM/Infor, Microsoft Outlook 365 applications or related programs (Smart track)
• Extensive knowledge of facility operations with respect to maintenance and construction, safety rules and safe work practices, material procurement and labor contracts

Selection Method:      

Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.      

All appointments, except for the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
