The Painting Superintendent oversees all aspects of painting operations, from planning and scheduling to ensuring quality, safety, and timely completion of projects. They manage the painting crews, materials, and equipment, ensuring adherence to standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities: ● Report to the General Superintendent for daily project updates and the status on current projects that are being performed under your supervision. ● Planning and Scheduling: Coordinate, schedule, and assign work duties for painters at multiple project sites. ● Direct all painters to achieve completion of the projects on schedule, within the man hours budgeted for the project, and ensure the quality of work is up to Gerloff Painting standards. ● Work Supervision: Supervise and coordinate painting crews on job sites. ● Train painters on different techniques, spray equipment, specialized paints, and application techniques ● Material Management: Order and manage painting materials and supplies, ensuring that all on-site paint shops are maintained and organized. ● Quality Control: Inspect work in progress and upon completion for adherence to trade standards and safety regulations. ● Safety: Ensuring a safe work environment and that all safety protocols are followed; rectify job site hazards immediately. ● Team Leadership: Train and mentor new and existing team members. ● Communication: Communicate with clients, contractors, and team members. ● Documentation: Maintain records of work progress and materials used. ● Problem Solving: Resolve on-site issues and provide technical guidance. ● Budget Management: Ensure project budgets are adhered to. ● Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. ● Progress Monitoring: Monitor project timelines and adjust schedules as needed. ● Schedule job walks with the GC superintendent, & Schedule and supervise the completion of the final punch list. ● Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve processes. ● Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers, other trades, and contractors. ● Paint when needed. Keep a clean set of painter's clothes in the vehicle. ● Be an expert on all paint materials and processes. Collaborate with estimators and paint reps to stay updated. ● Other tasks include: working with estimators on project assessments, interviewing prospective employees, troubleshooting jobsite issues, etc.
Requirements: ● Must be 18 years or older ● Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record ● Must have experience in painting ● Must have supervisory experience, 2-5 years of management experience is preferred ● Must be able to read floorplans/blueprints ● Must be forward-thinking and a quick problem solver ● Must have excellent communication skills ● Ability to work in a fast-paced environment ● Bilingual in Spanish is preferred
