What You’ll Work On
Responsible for the oversight, performance, and daily execution of the Facilities Contract Coordinator program on a single shift within a 5‑day operation with additional off-shift/weekend coverage when needed during periods of increased contractor activity. Leads Abbott Facility Contract Coordinator personnel and ensures effective oversight of all contracted service providers performing food‑safety‑critical work on site.
Coordinates activities, develops schedules, and ensures contractors’ work is fully aligned with plant food safety expectations, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requirements, Quality systems, and all regulatory standards.
Drives a culture of proactive food safety, ensures adherence to contractor management procedures, and provides leadership that supports continuous improvement in compliance, program execution, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Manages budget accountability for headcount, overtime (OT), and department-related expenses. Develops and grows the Abbott Facilities Contract Coordinator team, ensures proper training, and integrates contractor oversight responsibilities into broader food safety team operations.
Environmental Health & Safety
- Model behaviors that promote a robust EHS culture; engage employees and contractors to ensure all EHS requirements are met in alignment with internal and external regulations.
- Participate in EHS and Quality audits; lead or support incident investigations and corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
Quality Leadership
- Ensure that all contractor activities meet Abbott, division, and plant food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with creating, driving, and implementing holistic plant sanitation programs, policies, and procedures. Help ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and food safety policies and procedures.
- Act as food safety support in the process of assessing and mitigating safety risk associated with construction and major maintenance.
- Collaborates/Coordinates with Facilities and Operations groups to achieve desired Environmental Monitoring and Pest Control performance.
- Assists with evaluating facility sanitary conditions, assessing risk based on food safety and public health principles, and prioritizing corrective actions related to food safety.
Facilities Contract Coordinator Program Oversight
- Lead day‑to‑day execution of the Facilities Contract Coordinator program, ensuring proper monitoring, documentation, and reporting.
- Directly supervise Abbott employees responsible for monitoring contractors performing work at the site.
- Provide technical guidance to sentry staff and serve as a subject‑matter expert for contractor oversight and food safety compliance.
- Oversee integration of contractor management processes within the food safety team, ensuring consistency with corporate and regulatory expectations.
- Coordinate and schedule contractor activities to ensure adequate coverage, efficient workflow, and alignment with plant priorities.
- Ensure contractor qualifications, training, access, and documentation meet required standards.
- Partner with Procurement, EHS, Quality, Operations, and Security to maintain compliant contractor onboarding, performance monitoring, and recordkeeping.
Leadership, Staffing, and Development
- Model organizational values and provide clear leadership, direction, and development for Abbott Facility Contract Coordinator personnel.
- Assign duties, set expectations, and ensure team members are trained and competent in food safety, contractor oversight, documentation, and communication protocols.
- Provide timely coaching, counseling, feedback, and recognition.
- Conduct performance reviews on time and ensure alignment of individual development plans with team goals.
Operational & Financial Management
- Plan and organize daily schedules for Abbott sentry personnel and contractor activities.
- Manage budget accountability for headcount, OT, and Facility Contract Coordinator‑related direct expenses.
- Trend and continuously improve financial performance in areas such as OT, waste, efficiencies, and Cost Improvement Projects (CIPs).
Communication & Engagement
- Maintain high visibility on the floor; build strong relationships with employees, contractors, and cross‑functional partners.
- Establish communication routines to ensure timely and transparent information flow across all levels and functions.
- Promote positive employee relations and encourage knowledge sharing and open dialogue.
You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree OR significant experience in plant quality/food safety/sanitation/contractor management
- 2+ years' experience in regulated manufacturing environment.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills. Time management skills; priority management skills.
- Green Belt/Lean Six Sigma tools.
- Experience in a high-volume manufacturing support environment.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Project planning tools and experience using them.
- Plant financial understanding.
- Experience working with and implementing CIPs.
- Substantial computer skills (MS Office).
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals.
- Experience working in a manufacturing work environment with emphasis on infant formula manufacturing experience.
