Summary:
The Lab Operations Supervisor oversees day-to-day extraction lab activities and leads a team of technicians responsible for processing cannabis into high-quality concentrates. Reporting to the Manager of Lab Operations, this role ensures efficient and compliant lab workflows, maintains safety and equipment standards, and supports team development. You’ll serve as a technical and operational expert, coordinating across departments and ensuring the lab meets production targets and quality expectations.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage daily lab operations and extraction procedures

• Ensure compliance with all SOPs, safety protocols, and regulatory standards

• Conduct equipment checks, calibrations, and coordinate maintenance

• Perform quality control reviews of extracted products for consistency and potency

• Maintain accurate records, including batch logs and inventory tracking

• Support cross-department collaboration with Cultivation, Quality Control, and Production

• Train, coach, and oversee lab technicians, ensuring productivity and accountability

• Help onboard new team members and foster a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement

• Communicate production status, needs, and challenges to management

• Identify areas for process improvement and workflow optimization

• Enforce a culture of safety, cleanliness, and compliance at all times

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be 21 years of age or older (18 in NY)

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field preferred

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in cannabis extraction or lab operations

• Minimum 1 year in a supervisory role

• Proficient in hydrocarbon extraction and refinement techniques

• Working knowledge of quality control standards in a regulated environment

• Comfortable using ladders and manual transport equipment

• Must pass a criminal background check

Physical & Environmental Requirements:

• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs alone (up to 100 lbs with assistance)

• Frequent standing, walking, squatting, bending, and reaching

• Comfortable working with strong odors, loud environments, and variable indoor conditions (e.g., humidity, heat, A/C, fumes)

• Use of ladders (up to 12 ft) and standard hand tools

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Starting Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000
