This is a full-time located in Fort Worth, TX. For certain positions, including this one, employees can work one day per week remotely. Our leaders also foster a culture where work life balance, which requires flexibility for when life happens, is important and respected.


 


 


Duties and Responsibilities:




  • Respond to calls via radio and telephone in support of PTC (Positive Train Control) system users.




  • Properly react to alerts and alarms from the Network Management System (NMS).




  • Triage, troubleshoot, assess and prioritize incidents as they are occurring.




  • Assist with installation, configuration and testing of system hardware, software, operating systems and management systems.




  • Initiate incident resolution processes to correct abnormalities, working closely with Network Control Systems, Network Ops Center, Signal (SOC), Telecommunications (TSOC), Mechanical, vendors, other railways, and other personnel as necessary.




  • Respond to service interruptions and system outages appropriately.




  • Provide leadership and exercise resourcefulness in accomplishing repairs to the PTC infrastructure.




  • Accurately document and report issues and actions taken in the resolution process.




  • Interact with BNSF field personnel, executive leadership, train dispatchers, government agencies, and law enforcement agencies in a professional manner.







 


Required Qualifications:




  • Be willing and available to work 12 hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays




  • Be willing to work outside of normally scheduled hours and on short notice as needed




  • Possess ability to learn and understand overall PTC network at a system level




  • Be an effective verbal and written communicator




  • Be willing and able to work with a team in a highly stressful environment




  • Possess a working knowledge of General Operating and Safety rules




  • Proficiency in Microsoft office products such as Excel, Outlook, Word,  PowerPoint, and SharePoint




 


Preferred Qualifications:




  • Prefer a minimum of 2 years railroad experience




  • Experience with computer networking, telecommunications, signal, or locomotive systems




  • Network Operations experience in one or more of the following departments, Signal, Telecommunications, Transportation, and/or Mechanical departments is highly desired but not required




  • A Bachelor of Science or technical degree in electronics, computer science or related technical field is desired but not required
