Job Description - Supervisor, Production


The Production Supervisor leads daily manufacturing operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely production of quality products. This role is responsible for supervising and developing production employees, meeting production goals, maintaining quality and safety standards, and driving continuous improvement while partnering with cross-functional teams to achieve operational excellence.


Responsibilities



  • Champion a Safety First culture by promoting safe work practices, leading by example, and serving as the Operations representative on the facility Safety Team.

  • Ensure the consistent production of high quality products by providing ongoing operator training, reinforcing manufacturing standards, and holding employees accountable for compliance with all policies, procedures, and work instructions.

  • Plan and assign labor and resources to manufacturing processes to ensure production schedules, customer requirements, and operational priorities are achieved.

  • Monitor and communicate daily performance metrics related to safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency. Develop and execute corrective action plans to address missed targets, equipment downtime, and maintenance needs.

  • Lead, coach, and develop employees by providing regular performance feedback, supporting professional growth, recognizing achievements, and addressing performance, quality, productivity, attendance, and behavioral concerns through appropriate corrective action.

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process enhancements that improve safety, product quality, productivity, cost efficiency, and overall operational performance.

  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork, open communication, employee engagement, and accountability while supporting plant goals and business objectives.

  • Partner with Quality, Maintenance, Planning, and other cross-functional teams to improve manufacturing performance, resolve production issues, and ensure customer expectations are consistently met.

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, environmental regulations, quality standards, and applicable safety requirements.

  • Analyze production data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, improve operational effectiveness, and support informed decision-making.

  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels by participating in hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and succession planning activities.

  • Promote operational excellence through effective problem-solving, root cause analysis, standard work, and Lean manufacturing principles.


Qualifications



  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of manufacturing experience, with at least 1-2 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and fostering a strong safety culture.

  • Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills with the ability to build high-performing teams.

  • Experience managing production schedules and workflow in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to analyze production data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to improve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization.

  • Strong organizational, time management, and decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and manufacturing systems such as SAP or other ERP systems.

  • Ability to hold employees accountable while maintaining a respectful, collaborative, and positive work environment.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, or alternative shifts as business needs require.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 90% of the workday.

  • Ability to perform physically demanding and repetitive tasks, including lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds.
