Job Description - Supervisor - Shipping/Receiving & Material Control

We are Responsive We have Integrity We are Dynamic We exhibit ExcellencePRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPlan, organize and coordinate the activities of personnel engaged in the disciplines of material control, shipping, receiving, materials, material handling, asset management, & traffic as they relate to commercial and government vehiclesReceive and verify material data from engineers, process requests through Purchasing or FabricationRequires the ability to react quickly to changing requirements (changes to parts and materials) and pressures necessary to maximize the effectiveness (cost and time) of the programResponsible for the integrity of material and data and any breakdown in this area could result in loss of assembly, unnecessary overtime, or completion schedulesResponsible for the control of company and government material and property with an estimated value of up to approximately $1M annually (varies by contract)Implement and enforce company, department, and government procedures relative to accountability of materials and propertyOversees preparation and approval of invoice shippers for out-bound material and vehiclesSupervises the annual physical inventory of Experimental Operations and government material and physical assetsReceive and/or initiate documents regarding procurement of engineering materialReview release documents for provisioning requirements for new parts and assembliesPrepare and initiate documents for in-house fabrication, and outside parts fabricationCoordinate with engineers for the exchange and return of failed parts and assemblies for engineering evaluationUpdate computer list of material and follow-up on request to ensure ordered material is received to effectively meet prototypes completion datesReceive daily incoming stock, generate shipping invoices, issue stock and inventory parts, materials, & supplies, maintain parts storage crib in a neat and organized mannerEnsure scrap and surplus materials are disposed of in accordance with approved company proceduresInitiate and implement procedures required to maintain and improve effectiveness of supervised activitiesCoordinate and/or initiate special documentation of paperwork required for shipments of material, both domestic and internationalPerforms other duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLSHigh school diploma or GED equivalent required5-10 years experience in stock and inventory, material handling, traffic control, and asset managementSAP & Power Point knowledge preferredAbility to operate forkliftPrior military service, or defense acquisition preferredCommercial Drivers License (CDL) preferredBasic PC skills including Microsoft officeAbility to communicate and working through/with others is required to perform successfully in this positionPHYSICAL EFFORTSight: must be able to regularly read computer screen, reports, and various documents with detail and clarity to accomplish work tasks in a safe and efficient manner, including regular use of adequate close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focusHearing: must be able to regularly hear well enough to communicateHand-Eye Coordination: must be able to regularly coordinate ones eyes with ones fingers, wrists, or arms to move, carry, or manipulate objects or to perform other job-related tasksManual Dexterity: must be able to regularly make quick, accurate, skillful, and coordinated movement with hands and arms to grasp, place, move, or use objects such as phone, computer, and other office equipment, tools, or controlsAgility: must be able to regularly bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms, or legs to perform job tasks, including the ability to move throughout all areas of the facility, Companys property surrounding facility, or additional work areasClimbing / Kneeling: must be able to occasionally climb, kneel, bend over, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, with balanceLifting: must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds with or without assistancePhysical Strength: must be able to occasionally lift, push, pull, or carry objects using hands, arms, back, abdominal muscles, shoulders, legs, or a combination of these muscle groupsStamina: must be able to occasionally exert oneself physically over long periods of time, including performing repetitive or strenuous tasks as well as standing and sitting for long periodsWORKING CONDITIONSPhysical Location: This position operates between an office and manufacturing plant environment and is often assigned to a specific shift or hours. The Employee must be able to perform job functions in an environment with varying difficult work conditions such as extreme cold, heat, inclement weather, at heights, and/or while exposed to constant/intermittent loud noisesTeamwork: This position will work with others to ensure efficiency in the workplaceListening Skills: This position will need to understand how to use machinery properly and safely to prevent accidents and ensure all tasks are completed accuratelyAbility to follow instructions: Managers assign tasks and responsibilities, which vary; this position should be able to follow instructions competentlyMethodical approach: Production lines follow a set process, so this position needs a methodical approach to ensure all tasks are completed in the correct order for a smooth-running production lineConcentration: This position may perform the same or similar tasks repeatedly, so a strong level of concentration when carrying out these tasks is important for quality control purposes.
