Supervisor II Transportation (1300293) – Full Time Salary Exempt
Department: Supply Chain, Hay Grade 14
Reports to: Manager Transportation Operations

Position Summary:
The Supervisor II – Transportation is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the dispatch and driver team during assigned shifts. This position oversees all aspects of shift operations, including routing, compliance, safety, and performance management. The role requires strong leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills to manage daily activities, maintain regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include organizing and optimizing daily customer delivery routes, assigning appropriate drivers, and ensuring timely vehicle dispatch from staging docks. The Supervisor ensures all vehicles and drivers remain in full compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies and actively troubleshoot operational issues to guarantee timely resolutions.

Operational Excellence
• Ensure smooth and efficient operation of our dispatch and driver team through effective supervision, managing all aspects of the shift operation
• Organizing, planning, and optimizing daily routing of customer deliveries and assigning the appropriate driver
• Ensure that all vehicles and drivers remain in compliance with DOT regulations
• Effectively troubleshoot any and all issues to ensure timely resolution
• Oversee the timely loading and dispatching of trailers from our Jessup and York Distribution Centers based on various priorities
• Responsible for managing fleet drivers to performance and safety standards via on road observations
• Daily management of driver team metrics to include safety, all BPI standards, route productivity, cube route efficiencies, mobile cast compliance; provide daily coaching sessions to achieve team metrics and goals
• Daily follow up with Transportation Manager/Senior Manager and team members on key metrics and BPI; daily communication of status/shift issues to incoming/outgoing shift members, and as needed to achieve operational consistency
• Maintaining a work environment that is safe, clean, honest, harassment-free, and compliant with all food-safety regulations and policies
• Identify and address critical issues within the shift
What You Will Bring:
• Bachelor's degree in business or accounting or equivalent experience
• 1-2 years related work experience with focus on logistics, Distribution Ops and Accounting.
• Specialized knowledge of Warehouse Management System, Excel, and Word. Technical knowledge, Excellent analytical and presentation skills
• Project coordination experience and accounting principles, Communication (written and verbal) at all levels, planning and organizing skills, interpersonal skills
• High customer service orientation

• Food Safety & Sanitation - Applies food safety and sanitation standards to a wide variety of situations
• Inventory Control and Quality Assurance - Uses knowledge of processes and procedures to improve accuracy levels throughout the DC
• Labor Relations - Applies knowledge of Union/Non-Union requirements to maintain a good working relationship
• Operational Coordination -Applies strategies as needed to meet daily plans
• Operations Analysis - Applies operational data analysis to support improved operations within a functional area of responsibility
• People Safety - Applies specific knowledge of the company safety and security policies
• Regulatory Awareness & Compliance - Applies knowledge of a broad range of state, federal and local laws and regulations

This position will be on-site at the Giant Food Distribution Center in Jessup, MD.
