SummaryPosition is located at the Pine Ridge IHS Hospital in Pine Ridge, South Dakota. The purpose of this position is to supervise, plan, organize, manage and evaluate a comprehensive professional nursing program that meets the needs population served. Ensures nursing program meets all accreditation requirements. Provides subject matter expertise in the ongoing evaluation and implementation of the department productivity, also provides leadership and oversight of the nursing services.DutiesImplements an effective, on-going program to measure, assess, and improve the quality of nursing care delivered to patients. Formulates and implements plan of action to effectively utilize resources.Prepares reports on activities of the nursing program to service unit to supervisor and leadership. Develops and maintains criteria for standards of nursing care and for procedures to audit compliance with established standards.Implements changes in existing programs and develops new programs to meet emerging needs.Provides administrative leadership and oversight for the professional practice of nursing. Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (equivalent to the GS-13 grade level) in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Directly responsible for executive leadership decision making, operational management and oversight authority at the highest level in a hospital setting for all divisions and departments of nursing practice. Oversees staffing issues, disciplinary actions, budget development; advises medical staff, department heads, and administrators in matters related to nursing services; ensures nursing staff follows professionally set standards, including state and federal regulatory requirements to maintain hospital accreditation; provides leadership and direction to nursing programs ensuring proper health care management, evidence-based practice, safe and quality patient care.Time In Grade (Merit Promotion Candidates Only)
