Helps to establish best-known practices to establish and improve welding processes in the fabrication supply base Leads quality problem resolutions and incident management, drive root cause and corrective actions at suppliers Supports supplier technical audit process and evaluates supplier performance and capability. Supports supplier selection to develop a supply base that provides a competitive advantage in quality, value/cost, delivery and technology Supports new product development/introduction by reviewing process specifications, engineering drawing, and first article inspections to ensure integrity and clarity. Provides training and mentoring to internal teams on fabrication processes and the supplier audit/evaluation process Travel required both domestic and International, typically 30% to 50% as needed. Ability to audit welding procedures for code compliance and evaluate their functionality and effectiveness for the application Substantial experience in aluminum, stainless, and carbon steel welding with some knowledge in machining and fabrication. Knowledge of AWS codes and standards is required. Knowledgeable in fabrication methods used to meet cleanliness requirements for the semiconductor tool industry (Recommended) Willingness to develop technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: metal finishing (e. g. plating, anodization, ENP), precision cleaning or chemical analysis methods. Problem Solving Solves complex technical problems that have a broad impact on the business. Understanding and use of various problem-solving methodologies, such as 8D, six sigma, etc. Willingness to learn and be flexible in problem-solving approaches. Align project objectives to requirements of both internal and external customers. May lead project teams with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity to achieve milestone and objectives Keeps commitments while executing on multiple projects. Negotiates with others to adopt a different point of view Communicates technical concepts effectively to both technical and nontechnical audiences. 7+ years of experience in welding processes (GTAW, GMAW, EBW, LBW, etc.) and thermal cutting processes required. Experience with manual, semi-automated, and automated welding processes and systems. Must possess a strong knowledge of metallurgy of steels, testing of materials, and heat treatments. Experience with brazing process (VB, FB, TB, etc.) on aluminum and stainless steel preferred Certified Welding Inspector (AWS D1. 1 or ASME B31. CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) CWS (Certified Welding Supervisor) CWE (Certified Welding Educator) ASNT ACCP Level I, II, or III CWEng (Certified Welding Engineer) Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree in welding, mechanical, industrial, manufacturing engineering or equivalent education and working experience related discipline
