Job Description - Supplier Quality Engineer

To achieve this, we employ some of the best, brightest and most talented people in the world who work together as part of a winning team.\n\nWe are actively recruiting for a Supplier Quality Engineer to support our supply base in Phoenix Arizona.\n\nThe Supplier Quality team is a supportive, cross-functional team with many different skillsets and experiences, lending itself to many learning opportunities from within the team. Additionally, Applied Materials has extensive internal and external training programs offering various certifications and development opportunities tailored specifically for the engineer\u2019s skill sets and goals. The highly dynamic workload is project-focused, allowing the engineer to manage individual work schedules.\n\nKey Responsibilities \n\n * Leads quality problem resolutions and incident management, drive root cause and correction action. Identifies and drives broad based systemic supplier resolutions at the process level. \n * Support new product development/introduction by reviewing process specifications, engineering drawings, and first article inspections to ensure integrity and clarity. \n * Drive systemic supplier performance improvement plans for reducing quality defects and install and warranty related issues. \n * Drive SPC (statistical process control) compliance and improvement projects to reduce out of control conditions. \n * Conduct audits at supplier sites \u2013 part to print verification, quality management system review, root cause analysis, and corrective actions. \n * Proliferate key learnings and BKMs (best-known methods) into the Business Unit and Supplier Base. \n * Support Pilot and Volume manufactory sites as the supplier quality engineer for specifically assigned suppliers. \n * Apply knowledge of qualified sources and products to recommend materials to Design Engineering, which would result in savings, lead time reductions, system improvements, increased life and/or mitigated risk.\n * Work with New Product Development teams to ensure the integrity and clarity of engineering drawing requirements and that all expectations are communicated effectively to support suppliers.\n * Participation with New Product Introduction teams to ensure suppliers are involved in the development and review of specifications to promote design for manufacturability. \n * Continuous involvement in the Supplier Selection Process to develop a supply base that provides competitive advantage in quality, value/cost, delivery and technology.\n * Leads the supplier technical audit process and evaluates supplier performance and capability, drive continuous improvement opportunities at supplier. Training other supplier engineers on the supplier audit and evaluation process.\n * Assist in cost planning by monitoring key cost drivers, supply markets, to ensure a competitive advantage. \n\n\n\nFunctional Knowledge \n\n * Demonstrates depth and/or breadth of expertise in engineering and project management \n * Willingness to develop technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: OEM, BTP and special process e.g. coating, cleaning \n\n\n\nProblem Solving \n\n * Solves complex technical problems that have a broad impact on the business. \n * Understanding and use of various problem-solving methodologies, such as 8D, six sigma, etc. \n * Willingness to learn and flexible in problem-solving approaches. \n\n\n\nLeadership \n\n * Align project objectives to the requirements of both internal and external customers. \n * Lead project teams with resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity to achieve milestone and objectives \n * Keeps commitments while executing on multiple projects. \n * Negotiate with others to adopt a different point of view \n\n\n\nCommunication Skills \n\n * Must have excellent communication skills to effectively communicate between the business unit and the rest of the matrix organization. \n * Communicates technical concepts effectively to both technical and nontechnical audiences. \n\n\n\nExperience and Education \n\n * 7 - 10 years of relevant work experience \n * Bachelor\u2019s / Master\u0027s Degree in Materials, industrial, manufacturing engineering or related discipline \n\n\n\n## Qualifications\n\n### Education:\n\nBachelor\u0027s Degree\n\n### Skills\n\n### Certifications:\n\n### Languages:\n\n### Years of Experience:\n\n7 - 10 Years\n\n### Work Experience:\n\n## Additional Information\n\n### \n\n### Shift:\n\n10-Day 8-Hr (United States of America)\n\n### \n\n### Travel:\n\nYes, 20% of the Time\n\n### \n\n### Relocation Eligible:\n\nYes\n\n### Referral Payment Plan:\n\nEmployee Referral (Standard)\n\nU.S. Salary Range:\n\n$116,000.00 - $159,500.00\n\nThe salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members.
