Job Description - Supply Planner (Carlyle, IL)

Duties & Functions: 



  • Develop and maintain system-wide flow plans that align production supply, customer demand, inventory position, and asset capacity.

  • Manage inventory and space projections to optimize pig flow, yardage utilization, target weights, health status, and facility capacity.

  • Monitor supply, capacity, inventory, and operational performance metrics to identify risks, evaluate impacts, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Plan and execute changes within standard planning timelines, escalating issues with clear recommendations.

  • Support long-range planning through forecasting, scenario analysis, and evaluation of production changes, customer requirements, and operational constraints.

  • Use inventory, production, and operational data to support decision-making, improve planning effectiveness, reduce costs, and support customer commitments.

  • Develop reporting tools, dashboards, and planning processes that enhance visibility, accountability, and data-driven decision making.

  • Communicate supply plans, changes, risks, and recommendations to Production, Transport, Marketing, Leadership, and other key stakeholders.

  • Partner with operational leaders and facilitate cross-functional discussions to resolve inventory, capacity, and flow challenges while aligning on space planning priorities and business objectives.

  • Participate in planning review meetings, annual department objective setting, strategic initiatives, continuous improvement efforts, and planning system enhancements.

  • Serve as a resource and mentor for planning team members.

  • Provide after-hours support through the Supply Management & Logistics Emergency Hotline rotation as required.


Minimum Requirements


Education


Bachelor's Degree Required


Supply Chain Management, Agriculture, Animal Science, Business Administration, Operations Management, Accounting, or related field


Experience


2 years of supply chain, production planning, logistics, operations, or agricultural planning experience.


*5–7 years of relevant supply chain, production planning, logistics, operations, or agricultural planning experience can be substituted for a bachelor's degree.


 


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


Knowledge of:



  • Supply planning and inventory management

  • Production systems and operational planning

  • Capacity planning and forecasting

  • Data analysis and reporting

  • Microsoft Office applications with advanced Excel proficiency

  • Agricultural production systems and livestock flow planning

Compensation:


Targeted pay range of $70,000 - $76,000 USD annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
