Support Specialist

DDI Vantage empowers vulnerable children, adults and families to reach their full potential. Serving the community since 1971, this non-profit organization offers Early Intervention, Early Head Start Home-based services and Child Care Partnerships, and Adult and Youth Services programs.

Position Description: Join us and make a difference in the lives of others! The Adult and Youth Services program is looking for a part time (15-19 hours/week) Support Specialist to provide mentoring for adults and youth with special needs in the areas of daily life skills (budgeting, grocery shopping, self-care, social activities, etc.) and supported employment.

Qualifications: This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of six months related experience. The applicant must be at least 21 years of age, and will be required to drive clients to scheduled appointments in the Salt Lake Valley using their personal vehicle. The applicant must have a good driving record, a current driver license, current auto insurance, and reliable transportation. The successful applicant must pass a state background screen and motor vehicle report.

Key Responsibilities:

• Works directly with clients in supported employment, supported living, and socialization environments to encourage and promote the development of life skills and independence based on individual needs.


• Participates in the assessment of client needs and the development of the Person Centered Plan (PCP) and provides input regarding goals for each client.


• Markets DDI Vantage Supported Employment program to potential employers.


• Transports clients to and from various locations, as appropriate.


• Assists clients in finding employment, filling out applications, interviewing, and job training.


• Monitors clients’ progress on specific training objectives and completes all necessary documentation, including progress notes and reports.


• Assists the Program Coordinator in monitoring each client’s billable hours.
