Finishing Room Manager / Surface Finishing Engineer

Overview

We are hiring a hands-on Finishing Room Manager / Surface Finishing Engineer to lead daily operations and process development in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for professionals with direct experience in blasting, deburring, vibratory finishing, and surface finishing processes who enjoy both shop-floor leadership and technical problem-solving.

You will oversee finishing operations, support R&D initiatives, and work closely with sales, engineering, and customers to develop and optimize finishing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day finishing room operations (blasting, deburring, vibratory finishing, washing, shot peening, electropolishing)
• Set up, run, troubleshoot, and optimize finishing equipment, media, and chemical processes
• Conduct process trials, testing, and R&D to improve quality, throughput, and consistency
• Partner with sales and customers to develop sample processes and technical solutions
• Supervise technicians, manage workflow, and ensure production targets are met
• Document process parameters, quality results, and continuous improvements

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in manufacturing finishing operations (NOT pharmaceutical)
• Hands-on expertise with surface finishing, blasting, deburring, or vibratory finishing
• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with industrial equipment
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a finishing room or production environment
• Experience working with customers, sales, or engineering teams
• Ability to troubleshoot processes and drive continuous improvement

Preferred Skills

• Experience with electropolishing, triboconditioning, shot peening, or chemical finishing (Chemtrol)
• Background in in-house product finishing environments (machine shops or finishing houses)
• Strong process development, testing, and data analysis skills
