Surgery Coordinator

Position Overview: 

The Surgery Coordinator plays a vital role in guiding patients through their surgical journey, ensuring a seamless and supportive experience. This role involves providing patients with financial estimates for surgery, educating them on cataract lens options, scheduling their procedures, and offering continuous support throughout their surgical experience. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Serve as the primary contact for patients, guiding them through the entire surgical process and addressing any questions or concerns, both in-person and virtually. 

• Educate patients on cataract lens options, including premium lenses, explaining benefits, risks, and associated costs. 

• Coordinate and schedule pre-operative consultations, surgeries, and follow-up appointments. 

• Act as a liaison between the patient, surgical team, and billing staff, ensuring clear communication and personalized care. 

• Provide patients with detailed estimates for surgical procedures, including costs, insurance coverage, and out-of-pocket expenses. • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including financial and medical information. 

• Other duties, as assigned. 

Qualifications: 

• Background in healthcare or a related field is preferred. 

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex medical and financial information clearly and effectively. 

• Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, schedules, and virtual consultations simultaneously. 

• Compassionate and patient-focused, with a commitment to providing high-quality care and support. 

• Technical proficiency in using virtual meeting platforms and electronic health records (EHR) systems to conduct consultations and manage patient information. 

• Experience in ophthalmology or eye care is a plus.
