Job Description - Surgery Counselor

Schedules patients for surgery.
Follows up on all no shows and cancellations.
Counsels’ patients prior to surgery regarding the surgical procedure and the cost of the procedure.
Pre-Operative preparation and evaluation to include
Schedule Pre-anesthesia History & Physical with physician of patient’s choice.
Schedule necessary pre-operative testing
Obtain signature on all necessary forms and physician’s orders. Send original orders, copies of the patient’s insurance card, pre-certification from, A-Scan form and H &P report to the appropriate facility.
Scan consent forms, pre-certification form, and the H&P report into EMR.
Maintain inventory of patient educational materials and consent forms.
Maintain open communications with Clerical Supervisors regarding surgery schedule and pre-op testing.
Monitor the Surgeons’ schedules for cancellations. Inform Supervisors regarding surgery schedule and pre-op testing.
Returns patient phone calls as needed.
Assist clinical staff in patient care as needed.
Ability to make decisions that affect other people and/or the image and reputation of the practice.
Requires being exact or highly accurate.
Meeting strict deadlines.
Adhere to company policies and protocol.
Any other duties that may be required.

Requirements

High School or Equivalent
1-2 year experience in Customer Service/Sales
Bilingual (English and Spanish Languages)
Computers and Electronics Skills
