Surgery Scheduling Specialist

The Surgery Scheduling Specialist works with surgeons and staff to coordinate surgery scheduling for hospital inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory surgeries. This person is also responsible for providing patient instruction regarding all procedures. This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills to help provide quality care.

This person schedules cases correctly and coordinates according to scheduling guidelines/policies. Follows up with physician and/or physician office staff with scheduling conflicts, and concerns. Ensures necessary orders/consents are placed prior to surgery. Coordinates Co-surgeon cases. Daily interaction working closely with surgeons, surgeon's office staff, anesthesia and pre-surgery nurses. Continuous strong relationship building with Providers, Patient Care Coordinators and Team Leader. Serves as liaison between physicians, office staff, and hospital. Reviews schedules in advance and revises as necessary to prevent error and mitigate risk.

Answer all incoming phone calls with proper greeting 100% of the time. Continuously checks department and individual voicemail throughout the day returning phone messages promptly. Maintain clear and empathetic communication with patient families throughout the scheduling process to ensure that their experience is positive and provides them with a high degree of satisfaction.

Desired Candidate will be dependable and provide intricate detail and high accuracy of scheduling exact procedure requested by Physician.

Uses appropriate scheduling information into EMR system and schedule. Provides accurate ICD-10 diagnosis and CPT codes for scheduled procedures.

Previous Surgery Scheduling experience preferred.

RN preferred.
