Allied OMS is a doctor-owned, doctor-led, and doctor-governed management services organization (MSO) in the oral and maxillofacial surgery space that combines the best of private practice with the best of private equity.

Leveraging decades of experience building platform businesses in the healthcare industry and collectively owned by member surgeons, private equity, and management consulting veterans, Allied OMS offers essential tools for maximizing practice value.

Grounded in clinical excellence, doctors in the Allied OMS network maintain essential roles in management, governance, and clinical practice and participate directly in the platform's growth. Seventy-five percent of the Allied OMS board of directors are doctor members, and Allied OMS doctors lead 100% of the platform's management committees.

Founded in 2020 in partnership with DuneGlass Capital, a healthcare services-focused independent sponsor, the Allied OMS network now includes 83 doctors serving patients from 49 locations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, New York, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.

Requirements

Surgical Operations:

  • Preoperative:
    • Prepare and sterilize instruments per OSHA and infection control guidelines.
    • Set up the surgical suite with appropriate tools, supplies, and medications.
    • Review and update patient medical histories and provide pre-op education.
    • Assist with the administration of anesthesia under supervision.
  • Intraoperative:
    • Assist surgeons by handing instruments, retracting tissues, and ensuring visibility.
    • Manage suction and irrigation to maintain a clean field.
    • Monitor patient vitals as directed during procedures.
    • Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Postoperative:
    • Support patients during recovery and monitor post-anesthesia conditions.
    • Provide discharge instructions and assist in follow-up scheduling.
    • Clean and restock the operatory; ensure proper disposal of biohazard materials.

Patient Support & Clinical Duties:

  • Offer both pre- and post-operative care and reassurance.
  • Answer patient questions with empathy and professionalism.
  • Take dental radiographs (CBCT, panoramic X-rays).
  • Follow radiographic safety procedures and infection control policies.

Administrative & Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records using EMR software.
  • Assist in managing inventory
  • Support scheduling and coordination with front office staff.
  • Participate in team meetings and ongoing training for best practices.

Other Essential Qualifications:

  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
  • Active listening and clear communication abilities.
  • Adherence to strict patient confidentiality and HIPAA standards.
  • Flexibility and willingness to perform support roles as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative team mindset.
  • Commitment to safety, infection control, and quality patient care.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

  • Clinical environment requiring a sterile and organized workspace.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
  • Lifting and maneuvering up to 35 lbs; assist in moving patients.
  • Frequent bending, twisting, and adjusting positions.
  • Hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills essential.
  • Moderate noise levels from dental equipment.

Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • X-ray license required.
  • Completion of a dental assistant program preferred.
  • CPR/BLS certification required; RDA or DAANCE certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in surgical or dental assisting (oral surgery preferred).
  • Proficiency in EMR, radiographic imaging, and surgical instrument handling.
