Surgical Coordinator - Orthopaedics

• Coordinates surgical processes including:
  • Scheduling surgical procedures;
  • Schedules pre-operative medical appointments;
  • Obtains surgical times and preadmission times from the surgical facility;
  • Provides required documentation to the surgical facility;
  • Coordinates scheduling with suppliers and vendors;
  • Assists in rescheduling IP/pre-op appointments due to changes in clinical schedules;
  • Collaborates professionally and timely with the care team, including physician, medical assistant, physician assistant, and surgical facility coordinator, to facilitate a positive experience for the patient;
  • Communicates directly with patients to provide appropriate surgical instructions,
  • Uses EHR functions to ensure consistent and accurate documentation, following established protocol. Complies with all OHSA, HIPAA, BBP, and other protocols.

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

• Prior experience as a Surgical Coordinatory and/or surgical Medical Assistant required, in a physician practice. Orthopaedics preferred.
• Skilled at relationship building. Able to communicate clearly and concisely with patients, family members, vendors, and providers.
• Must be organized and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple and changing priorities.
• EMR/PM experience is required, strong keyboard skills are required. Must be able to simultaneously use the computer and speak on the phone (talk and type).
• Demonstrates exceptional customer service, communicating clearly, respectfully, and professionally with patients, family, and clinical team.
• Primarily sedentary, sitting.
• Use of general office equipment – keyboard, telephone, faxing.
• Periodic lifting, stooping, carrying less than 25 lbs.
