Position Summary:
The Surgical Coordinator/Scheduler (GSO) is a crucial role within our organization, responsible for coordinating surgical services and managing the scheduling of surgical procedures. You will work closely with physicians, patients, and clinical staff to ensure a seamless surgical experience. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering outstanding patient care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Schedule surgical procedures in a timely manner, ensuring alignment with physician and patient availability.
Communicate effectively with patients regarding pre-operative instructions, post-operative care, and insurance queries.
Document all relevant information in the EMR system accurately.
Liaise with referring physicians and other medical personnel to coordinate patient care.
Educate patients on the insurance process and financing options related to surgical procedures.
Provide backup support to front office staff, including patient check-in and answering incoming calls as needed.
High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree preferred.
2+ years of experience in a medical office or surgical setting preferred.
Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
Excellent communication skills with a patient-focused approach.
Proficient in using EMR systems and other scheduling software.
