Job Description - Surgical Coordinator/Scheduler (GSO)

Position Summary:

The Surgical Coordinator/Scheduler (GSO) is a crucial role within our organization, responsible for coordinating surgical services and managing the scheduling of surgical procedures. You will work closely with physicians, patients, and clinical staff to ensure a seamless surgical experience. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering outstanding patient care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Schedule surgical procedures in a timely manner, ensuring alignment with physician and patient availability.
  • Communicate effectively with patients regarding pre-operative instructions, post-operative care, and insurance queries.
  • Document all relevant information in the EMR system accurately.
  • Liaise with referring physicians and other medical personnel to coordinate patient care.
  • Educate patients on the insurance process and financing options related to surgical procedures.
  • Provide backup support to front office staff, including patient check-in and answering incoming calls as needed.
  • High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a medical office or surgical setting preferred.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication skills with a patient-focused approach.
  • Proficient in using EMR systems and other scheduling software.
