Position Summary
To support the PCS and patient by providing services such as: scheduling, database management, patient/department support, and unit-specific tasks.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of formal coursework in a healthcare program, secretarial science studies or related field preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of office experience in a healthcare setting required. OR office support background preferred.
Skills
Demonstrated typing skills and computer literacy. Typing/keyboarding 25-30 wpm at a minimum. Knowledge of medical terminology required. Good customer service skills (to include telephone etiquette) to effectively communicate and interact with physicians, office staff, and personnel from other departments during day to day and stressful situations. Ability to work independently, cooperatively, and with minimal supervision with members of the health care team. Ability to use effective time management to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities and respond quickly to changing and conflicting needs. Attentive to details and the ability to perform work accurately, often changing from one task to another with loss of efficiency or composure. Effective critical thinking skills, i.e., analytical, problem-solving, decision making, prioritizing, time management, etc. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
