Surgical Scheduler, SGPA, Gastroenterology, Full-Time, Brunswick

Southeast Georgia Health System is seeking a Full-Time Surgical Scheduler to join our Southeast Georgia Physician Associates (SGPA) Gastroenterology team in Brunswick, GA. In this role, you will be responsible for providing a variety of clerical duties in support of the medical office. Codes, pre-certs and posts surgical cases with surgical services.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for preparation of surgical posting sheet, including procedure, codes and instrumentation.


• Utilizes current software to check medical necessity according to commercial, federal and state payor requirements.


• Obtains requisite treatment authorizations from commercial, federal and state payors as required.


• Posts surgical procedure with Surgical Services and communicates with patients regarding the time of surgery.


• Manages daily surgical schedule for each surgeon.  Provides consistent communication between physician office and Surgical Services.


• Contacts equipment/ instrument representative for each case as required.


• Operates the computer system, telephone and fax machine.


• Follows established procedures to maintain confidentiality of all patients and practice related information.


• Works collaboratively with other Health System departments as necessary.


• Exhibits positive interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrates courteous and professional behavior.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• High school graduate or equivalent.

Experience

• 1 to 3 years of secretarial experience required.


• Clerical experience in a medical or business office preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Computer literate, medical terminology, medical coding, ability to operate office equipment, scanner, calculator, fax, copier, telephone, credit card terminal, bookkeeping and filing.
