Plymouth Laser & Surgical Center is an ambulatory surgery center dedicated to providing advanced specialty laser and surgical care for conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, retinal, and corneal disorders to the South Shore community. The center emphasizes patient safety, efficient surgical procedures, and personalized care.
The Surgical Technician plays a critical role in our operating rooms, ensuring surgical efficiency, patient safety, and seamless support during ophthalmologic procedures. This role requires meticulous preparation, sterile technique, and close collaboration with surgeons, nurses, and the broader perioperative team.
Prepare and maintain sterile surgical fields, instruments, and supplies, ensuring readiness for each procedure.
Anticipate surgeon’s needs: pass instruments, hold retractors, cut sutures, and manage counts of sponges, needles, and instruments.
Assist with patient positioning, draping, and ensuring comfort and safety before surgery begins.
Operate and troubleshoot sterilization equipment, lights, suction machines, and any diagnostic or laser instruments used during ophthalmic procedures.
Handle specimen care, labeling, and management with accuracy and professionalism.
Support smooth operating room turnover: clean, restock, and prepare OR for successively scheduled cases.
Comply with all infection control, safety, and regulatory standards, including aseptic techniques and universal precautions.
Collaborate within the perioperative team to uphold operational efficiency and high-quality patient care.
