Surgical Technician / Tissue Processing Technician

The Surgical Technician/Tissue Processing Technician isresponsible for the sterilization of surgical equipment, arrange surgicalequipment and adjust medical tools to ensure that the surgical devices arefunctioning properly. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: + Places equipment and supplies in operating room and arrangesinstruments, according to instructions + Assists team members to place and position patient on table + Scrubs arms and hands and dons gown and gloves + Aids team to don gowns and gloves + Maintains supply of fluids, such as plasma, saline, blood,and glucose for use during operation + Hands instruments and supplies to surgeon, holds retractors,cuts sutures, and performs other tasks as directed by the surgeon duringoperation. + Puts dressings on patient following surgery + Counts sponges, needles, and instruments before and afteroperation + Washes and sterilizes equipment, using germicides andsterilizers + Cleans operating room + Performs other duties as assigned/necessary Minimum Requirements: + Surgical Technologist certification as applicable per stateand/or client requirement + One year experience as a Surgical Technician preferred(Tissue Processing Technologist – only) + Degree in biology related field which includes a degree /certification as a Surgical Technologist preferred + Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice + Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable + Current CPR if applicable + TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable + Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation) + Must meet all federal, state and local requirements + Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site + Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements + Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required + Computer proficiency required + Must be at least 18 years of age Must have CST national Cert in hand Level 1 trauma experience required SHIFT TIMES: 12D/N Rotating (may be within the same week) HOURS/WEEK: 36 (except for orientation week) CALL REQUIREMENT: must report within 30 minutes; All shifts will be rotating(days, evenings, nights). Call and weekends required. No more than 2 call and 2 weekend shifts in a 6 week period.
