Hiring Salary Range: $51,934.60 - $57,255.05 depending on qualifications

The Surgical Technology Instructor role requires a strong foundation in surgical technology practices, effective communication skills, and a commitment to education.  For all didactic, laboratory and clinical instruction to which a student is assigned, there must be a qualified individual(s) clearly designated by the program to provide instruction, supervision, and timely assessments of the students’ progress in meeting program requirements.    

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide engaging and effective instruction in core surgical technology courses, adhering to the current Core Curriculum guidelines.
• Evaluate student performance, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate academic records.
• Deliver a quality educational experience for students at clinical sites, ensuring they meet the necessary competencies for certification.
• Work with program leadership to support academic goals and mission and collaborate with Clinical Managers and Educational Coordinators.
• Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum development, and programmatic assessments as needed.

Required Qualifications:

Faculty/instructional staff must be effective in teaching and knowledgeable in subject matter as documented by appropriate professional credential(s)/certification(s), education and experience in the designated content area.

Faculty with instructional responsibilities in core surgical technology courses must:

Be a graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency; and Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA); and Have a minimum of two years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical Technology, or a combination of both, within the past five years.

Pay Rate:

Faculty members will be assigned to the appropriate salary grade based on the contract with the faculty union. 

• Grade 2:  Master’s Degree with 18 graduate semester hours in the field $51,934.60
• Grade 2+: Master’s Degree with 60 graduate semester hours in the field $54,594.23
• Grade 1:  Earned Doctor in major field $57,255.05
